Dr Suzanne Zeedyk
Relational Practice: What it
is, Why it Works and How to
Support People When It Feels
Uncomfortable
‘Relational practice’ is another name for
‘trauma-informed practice’. This workshop
with Dr Suzanne Zeedyk will follow on
from her keynote on Fierce Curiosity. We
will have time to dig in deeper, reflecting
together on the reasons that shame, guilt
and fear of chaos is so often follows from an
understanding of the science of relational
distress. How do you handle those responses
when they come up inside your stress system
-- or when they are experienced by others,
such as colleagues, managers and parents?
The workshop will be full of information
and practical tips, and you will even get an
opportunity to try your hand at some of the
uncomfortable conversations we all have
these days.

Understanding & Supporting
a Child with Social, Emotional
& Mental Health (Behaviour)
Difficulties
This engaging and informative workshop is
designed for educators committed to their
students’ well-being. Participants will gain a
deeper understanding of Social, Emotional and
Mental Health Difficulties (SEMHD) and how
they can manifest in the school environment.
The session will explore practical strategies for
supporting children with SEMHD, ensuring they
receive the empathetic support and guidance
they need to thrive academically and socially.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be
able to:
1. Define SEMHD: Clearly articulate what
constitutes social, emotional, and mental health
difficulties, distinguishing between various
types and their potential impacts on children’s
development.
2. Identify Indicators: Recognise the signs and
symptoms of SEMHD in the school setting,
understanding how these difficulties may
present in children’s behaviour, academic
performance, and social interactions.
3. Create a Supportive Environment: Learn
essential strategies to create an inclusive
and supportive classroom environment that
acknowledges and accommodates the needs of
children with SEMHD.
4. Implement Interventions: Gain practical
skills to implement targeted interventions and
strategies that can help children with SEMHD
manage their challenges effectively.
5. Collaborate for Success: Understand the
importance of multi-disciplinary collaboration,
working with parents and other professionals to
provide holistic support to students.
