Celebrating Picasso Today:
In昀nite Modernism
On the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso, Almine Rech will present a series of exhibitions featuring works by contemporary artists
which highlight the scale of Picasso9s artistic impact.
Each exhibition, in its own way, resonates with one of the formal, technical, or conceptual inventions of the most in昀uential artist of the twentieth
century. The London exhibition Celebrating Picasso Today: In昀nite Modernism aims to showcase how modern and contemporary artists have been
directly inspired by Picasso9s work over the decades.
The exhibition is comprised of works that re昀ect Picasso9s spontaneous in昀uence, including a selection of historical 1980 works by Peter Halley,
which have never been showcased before. In parallel, the gallery has commissioned a new body of works by living artists from its global roster to
engage a dialogue between their contemporary practice and that of the Twentieth Century master. Paying homage to Picasso9s far-reaching legacy,
this show will feature a selection of paintings and sculptures by artists including Farah Atassi, Todd Bienvenu, Brian Calvin, Alejandro Cardenas,
Timothy Curtis, Genieve Figgis, Jameson Green, Peter Halley, Aly Helyer, César Piette, Mimmo Rotella, Ryan Schneider, Keiichi Tanaami, Tursic &
Mille and Francesco Vezzoli.
