Filling Your Cup at Somabay
This September, Egypt9s Red Sea Riviera, Somabay, will be hosting the
Solasi Wellbeing Festival in collaboration with Yes Yoga and Osana
Family Wellness.
The opportunity to bring my mind, body and soul into balance under the
hot sun with views of the Red Sea: where9s my passport?
Arriving at Somabay for last year9s festival, I found a variety of classes,
workshops and treatments available, including Yoga; How to Handstand, Shamanic Healing, Somatic Movement or just a good straight
up massage. Su٠恩ce to say, I was not disappointed, especially when the
on-site cafe could blend up a delicious fresh fruit storm of a smoothie, or
a speciality co昀ee (iced coconut latte please) post downward dog& and
dare I mention pizza with chilled pale blush rose wine, brought to my
shore-side giant beach lounger?
Yes: I9m talking about bringing my mind, body and soul into balance,
not detoxing - especially not when I9ve escaped September in the UK,
the cold British equivalent to the Tropics9 monsoon season.
Riding into the sea for a paddle and those all important holiday snaps.
Anthony and Cleopatra, eat your hearts out! Rides are available for all
abilities and the horses are well cared for. The sta昀 are also welcoming
and clearly have great relationships with the horses. I received many a
heart-warming nuzzle with my horse Samantha after our ride.
After all that excitement, a libation is needed. With a wonderful view
of Somabay9s peaceful marina and the stunning mountains in the
background, I head to SOBAR after some souvenir shopping. SOBAR
is a rooftop bar with fabulous cocktails, Asian cuisine and DJs every
evening. A relaxing ending to an eventful week! Balance indeed was
restored and I return home with my shoulders farther from my ears, an
enviable tan and a smile in my heart.

Somabay itself is an exclusive Red Sea resort in Egypt. Flights from
London to Hurghada last around 5 hours and I9d highly recommend getting a late afternoon 昀ight so you can arrive at your hotel for a nightcap
before bed and wake up in Egyptian paradise.
Yes, paradise; the resort boasts some of the whitest and sandiest beaches the Red Sea has to o昀er, backdropped with panoramic views of desert
mountains and clear blue skies. Out of the many luxury hotels scattered
across the resort, I stayed at The Cascades Golf Resort, Spa & Thalasso;
also home to award-winning The Cascades Spa & Thalasso - the
only spa with seawater-based therapy in the Red Sea.
The experience was an hour of what felt like a luxurious lazy river of
massaging water-jets. The spa is the largest in the area and with a
whopping 65 treatment rooms and a variety of treatments hailing from
India to Bali, I was spoilt for choice - so I panicked and got a Swedish
massage.
Golf personally isn9t my thing unless I get to ride in a buggy, yell
