Physics for 3 - 5 Graders
Physics? Ack! Don’t let the term scare
you. We all know more about Physics then we think.
We use it every day. Come to the Prairie Oak Nature

some basic, practical, and important concepts that will
introduce your child to the “NON-SCARY, FUN” world of
physics.

Animal with Super Powers
Everyone loves a hero! Learn
about some interesting animal
friends with unique super
powers. How strong is a
spider web? How fast can a
cheetah run? How high does
a flea jump? What animal
can win a fight with a rattle
snake? Participants are invited
to wear their favorite super hero
shirt or cape and to think of a
super power they would like to
have.

Pooh Sticks, Sailboats, and
Other Things that Float
Play “Pooh Sticks” with a child decorated stick. Create
a sailboat and see how far it sails. What sinks and what
floats? Does anything do both? We will meet at the Prairie
Oak Nature Center for the first part of our program and the
bridge and creek for the remainder.

Ink My Park T-Shirts
Nature provides us a never ending variety
of interesting textures and patterns. Come enjoy a
session of putting your personal “stamp” on a t-shirt just
for you. A selection of nature themes will be available,
and you will leave the program with a “one-of-a-kind”
designed t-shirt. Adults will work with their child
during this project. Be prepared for messiness! Printing
supplies will be provided. Please bring a shirt of your
choice to use for your project.

You, Me and the Trees
Celebrate Arbor Day at the Prairie Oak
Nature Center! Learn about trees – how to identify them,
how to plant them, and how to care for them so they
continue to care for us! Kids can go on a tree scavenger
hunt with adults. Starter trees will be available for any family
wishing to plant them at home as long as supplies last. Let’s
give our trees the importance in our world they deserve!
