Day 01 - Glasgow/Edinburgh to Inverness
This grand house was a filming location for multiple scenes in Outlander,
including being the setting of the Duke of Sandringham’s home.
Known in the series as Lallybroch and Jamie’s family home, and is a lovely
15th century castle.
Another 15th century castle used in the filming of Outlander to represent
Fort William and where Jamie received lashes from Captain Randall. This
domineering fortress is known as “the ship that never sailed” given its
resemblance to a great stone ship.
Infamously known in the series as Wentworth Prison, this palace dates
back to the 12th century and was actually the birthplace of many Scots
Royals, including Mary Queen of Scots.
Although not a filming location in Outlander, this is a must see location
steeped in Scottish History.
Fictionally known as Castle Leoch and the home of Colum MacKenzie.
A scenic location to stop off for lunch and a wander around.
The real battlefield of Culloden which inspired the scenes for the series.
The author’s inspiration for the famous stone circle, this is a well
preserved, bronze age burial cemetery.
Stay the night in the capital to the Highlands.
