rom east to west, above and below ground,
we have some of London’s most iconic sites
in our portfolio. We’ve been in the UK capital for
more than four decades and have helped shape
a number of iconic projects in that time, including the
now thriving Canary Wharf district. We’ve got teams there
constructing the next generation of commercial and residential
buildings and remain proud to deliver the homes, transport,
utilities, retail and offices that keep this great city ticking.

Some of our projects grab the attention of visitors from all
over the world, with The Leadenhall Building now a landmark
skyscraper on the city’s skyline. Deep below the Thames,
our teams at Tideway are currently constructing the central
section of a super sewer that will prevent pollution escaping
into the river. It’s part of the biggest infrastructure project
ever undertaken by the UK water industry.
Remaining below ground, Tottenham Court Road is one of four
stations that we have delivered for Crossrail. TCR will be used
by over 250,000 people every day, acting as the largest
transport hub in the city. Rising above the station, the impressive
neighbouring Soho Place, dubbed “an urban jigsaw bolstering
the regeneration of Oxford Street”, is underway. The retail
and office building will contain a 600-seat theatre: the first
that has been built in the West End of London for over 50 years.
Meanwhile, on the west side of the capital we have recently
completed the striking Brunel Building on North Wharf Road,
Paddington. An office and residential development, it was
designed to house 16 storeys of spacious column-free floors
and forms part of an attractive area of waterside public realm.
Our residential projects are designed for manufacture and
assembly, minimising disruption to neighbouring communities
while we are on site and pushing boundaries of productivity
in the construction sector. Two Fifty One in Southwark is one
of the tallest residential buildings in London and using our
DfMA approach, a new floor was completed every six days
at peak delivery.
These are just some of the projects that have helped shape
our legacy and strengthened our long-standing relationships
with our London clients. Through hard work, dedication and
daring to dream, we have cemented Laing O’Rourke as part
of London and the world’s rich construction history.
