DEMAND SUPPLY
AND
The value of supply
chains in the modern
construction industry
s a company, we have never accepted the limits
of traditional construction. We have always
maintained that, by building solid foundations
for the future, you can then create conditions
that foster an industry-leading environment.
Something that has always been integral to our decades
of growth and success, and an increasingly crucial element
of modern construction, is the ability to understand the
complexity and importance of 21st century supply chains.
With a sharp focus on the stability of the construction
industry, its ability to move quickly to modern methods
of construction, and the economic headwinds globally
impacting a changing workforce, large contractors
like us increasingly rely on supply chain partners.

We have a history of acquiring and owning
our own supply chain, which lessened
our reliance on others for major plant and
equipment hire, M&E skills or specialist
expertise in growth areas such as off
site manufacture and digitally enabled
construction. This allows us to offer a greater
certainty of delivery to clients across a range of sectors,
as we own so many of the component parts of that production
cycle. With a trend towards large, more complex projects
and contracts in FY20 and beyond, we have to guard against
complacency. We recognise that the supply chain in its
entirety, as with the industry itself, is so much bigger than us.
