Sadly, his family life continued to be
marred by tragedy: thirteen years ago,
mum died before being able to enjoy
much of the fruits of retirement
together with dad, then four years ago
we lost my sister Helen. In spite of all
of these losses, he ploughed on. More
happily, he was delighted and proud to
be grandfather to four fine
grandchildren - Jono, Josh, Ben and
Millie.
How should I sum up Paul Rose’s life?
He was busy, restless, energetic. He
wanted to achieve things in his work
and as an individual. He put his life into
service to the church and its people
and into his passions, musical and
otherwise. He will be remembered as a
father, a grandfather, a friend to many;
but especially as a priest.
One of his former parishioners recently
wrote: “His understanding of what
makes us all both human and children
of God was what made him such a
good priest.”
Rest in peace, Paul Rosamond Rose,
good and faithful servant of God.
