PEADAR GLENNON
Chief Operations Manager
fter twenty-two years as our chief
operations manager, Peadar moved
on to a new opportunity in July
2021, signalling the end of an era.
Peadar joined the Irish Simmental
Society in 1999, and has witnessed the growth and
development of our beautiful breed to where it is
today. In the early 2000s, a Breed Development
and Improvement program was established, which
eventually led to the contemporary Simmental
we know today. Simmental reaf昀椀rmed their status
as the best maternal breed while also including
stronger terminal characteristics.
A
Demand for our commercial heifers grew
steadily, and our foreign customer base for both
commercials and pedigrees expanded, with
Irish Simmental genetics in high demand across
the continent. Throughout his tenure, he had
numerous highs, including hosting the World
Congress in 2000, serving as chair of the 2010 Beef
Expo, and witnessing record prices for the breed
being established and shattered. Peadar developed
numerous friendships both at home and across the
river, and those who knew him, both within the
Simmental breed and beyond, hold him in high
regard. We wish him the best of luck in his new
position and appreciate his contributions to the
Irish Simmental Society.
