2018 Quality Profile Report for Mentor Public Schools - Page 17

Strategic Planning
During the 2017-2018 school
year, Mentor Schools enlisted
the help of more than 100
stakeholders to provide input
into how the district operates.
Together, by working in groups,
a new five year strategic plan for
Mentor Public Schools was
developed. The groups focused
on four key areas: Safety,
Education, Resources, and
Community Partnerships.
You can read an overview of
the district’s new mission,
vision and strategic plan on
the next two pages of this
Quality Profile Report booklet.
Facilities Management Plan
The first major initiative came from the Resources
section of the strategic plan, with a decision to go
from operating three middle schools to two and
eight elementary schools to seven. This is a result of
declining enrollment in Mentor Public Schools and
the need to make adjustments in regard to facilities
management as part of our commitment to fiscal
responsibility with our taxpayer dollars.
UPDATE: The facilities management plan is projected to save more
than $1 million a year over the next five years.
End of an Era: Hundreds of community members attended the farewell celebrations at our now closed elementary school buildings, Brentmoor & Garfield,
and to say goodbye to Ridge as a middle school before it reopened as an elementary school for the 2018-2019 year. Follow the QR for video.
