Laketran Design A Bus Wrap winner
Mentor High School students are now two-for-two winning
Laketran’s Design a Bus Wrap art contest! Leland Kranz, a
soon-to-be junior at Mentor High School, won first prize for
his design entry themed, Cleaner Lake for a Cleaner Lake
County.
And now, you might see it driving around town! As the top
winner, Kranz’s design will be displayed on one of Laketran’s propane powered Dial-a-Ride buses for six months.
“I think it’s great that students have the opportunity to
participate in projects like this. Thanks to Laketran and my
art teacher, Mrs. Toot, for encouraging our class to submit
our artwork,” shared Kranz. “When creating my design I
thought of the ‘Building a Greener Lake County’ theme that
they gave us and I just created something that I felt was right and made sense. I’m excited to see my design on the road.”
In its second year, Laketran had more than 50 local high school and middle school students submit entries for the contest. A Mentor Schools
student also won third place in the contest– Kara Kelly from Shore Middle School. Congratulations to Leland and Kara!
1.7 Million meals served to our students via usda funds
Over the last three school years, our Nutrition Services department has been busy! Our essential workers never stopped— making sure our community’s children had nutritious meals each and every day. Through the USDA National School Lunch Program, we were able to offer breakfast and lunch meals at no cost to
ALL of our community’s children for the entire 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years, and also the end of the 2020 school year. With this reimbursement, we
served 110,902 meals at the end of 2020, 724,818 meals in 2020-2021, and 929,941 in 2021-2022— making a grand total of 1,765,661 meals served! This program returns to requiring qualification for the 2022-2023 school year. Families who qualify for free and reduced meals and fees should fill out an application via
the Parent Portal.
