THE ARTS
>> Nearly 200 students participate in the Mentor High School Fighting
Cardinal Marching Band! Last year, the FCMB was extremely creative
in adapting to meet covid-protocols, sometimes spreading all across
campus to practice safely. While the state competition, in which the
FCMB always excels, was cancelled last year, many people were still
able to enjoy a performance at a football game. The state competition
is back on for 2021-2022 and we know the FCMB will shine! Go CARDS!
>> Mentor High School Band members perform in honors ensembles
all across the Cleveland area.
>> All elementary aged students are enrolled in music class, and students have the opportunity in fifth grade to learn a band or orchestra
instrument.
>> In addition to instrumental lessons, elementary band and orchestra
students perform in many building concerts and an All-City Festival
concert, in which all schools combine for a performance.
>> Hundreds of students are enrolled each year in the more than a
dozen music courses offered at Mentor High School. Choices include,
Band, Symphony and Mannheim Orchestras, Wind Ensemble, Men’s
and Women’s Choruses, Mixed Concert Choir, Music Theory and Composition, and more.
>> The MHS music department hosts camps that draw young musicians in every summer to expand their learning.
>> Talented Mentor High School students perform a variety of shows
each year through our Mentor Theatre program. Last school

year, students were able to perform their fall play (in January) and
spring musical. Currently, students are preparing for this year’s
performances. We love to share our shows with the community!
>> Each of our middle schools runs a theatre or drama club program
for students to participate in as well.
>> The Mentor Top 25 Show Choir (pictured below) is now in its 57th
year of entertaining our community! The Mentor Top 25 was the first
high school show choir in the state of Ohio and has spent the past 50+
years performing throughout northeastern Ohio, the United States,
and many countries around the world. Additionally, some Mentor
Schools middle school students have the opportunity to also
participate in show choir through Shoreline Singers.
