Student leadership
Start with Hello: We are always striving to create a safe learning environment where students can
grow academically, socially and emo}onally! Part of that goal includes providing character building
ac}vi}es for our students that promote kindness in our schools. Our par}cipa}on in Start with Hello
week is a great example of that and we hope you enjoy this video with some of the highlights!
>> At the high school level, students have more than 40 di昀昀erent clubs and
ac}vi}es available in which to par}cipate.
>> At the middle school level, students have approximately 15 clubs and
ac}vi}es available in which to par}cipate.
>> The high school has specialized clubs and ac}vi}es aimed at raising awareness surrounding mental health and bullying issues.
>>High school students operate a successful online newspaper called Cardinal
Na}on that is available within the school and to the public.
>> Each of the middle schools also has clubs for students to
spread a message of kindness and compassion throughout
the school and community. Many of our an}-bullying ini}a}ves include peer-to-peer messaging, which can be a powerful tool. This is re昀氀ected in our student-led Kindness Rallies and S}ck Together program, as examples.
>> Mentor High School students lead the Sparkle Cheerleaders program, also
known as Mentor Sparkles. Sparkles is an inclusion cheerleading squad where
students with special needs work with their typically-developing peers to root
for the Cardinals at various games and events throughout the school year.
