Make a Di昀昀erence Day! With the support of their teachers, 8th grade
students le昀琀 their classrooms behind for a day and found out how they
can make a posi}ve impact in the world around them through volunteer work. From visi}ng folks and being a friend at various loca}ons to
rolling up their sleeves to cook and clean, it was a great day for all!
Community Involvement
Educa琀椀onal experiences are enhanced by partnerships between the school district and community.
PTA and PTSA Organiza琀椀ons & Presidents
Each of the district’s schools has an extremely ac}ve PTA or PTSA.
Addi}onally, the presidents from each organiza}on meet regularly
with the superintendent to learn important informa}on that can be
shared with each school community.
Community Movie Night
The district o昀昀ers events invi}ng the community to a琀琀end a movie
showing on the big screen of our Fine Arts Center and o昀琀en this
event is held in conjunc}on with a good cause.
Food Drives
Each school building collects food items to donate to the annual Feed
Lake County Food Drive, raising tens of thousands of pounds of food
for those in need in our community. Many of our schools also par}cipate in End 68 Hours of Hunger, Lake County.
United Way of Lake County
Our superintendent serves on the Board for the United Way of Lake
County and all of our buildings par}cipate each year in the annual
United Way fundraising drive.
Various Chari琀椀es
All of our buildings par}cipate in various charitable causes from
Project Hope and Jump Rope for Heart to hos}ng Relay for Life and
VeloSano Kids Trike & Bike, among many others.
Business Advisory Council
The district works closely with volunteer members from the
business community to look for ways to share exper}se and be琀琀er
prepare our students for life a昀琀er high school. Our BAC was recently
revamped and is working be琀琀er than ever to create opportuni}es for
students and local businesses together.
Mentor Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC)
A Mentor Schools representa}ve serves on the MACC’s Board of
Directors as a liaison between the city’s business community and
public school district.
State of the Schools
Our superintendent delivers a State of the Schools presenta}on
annually to the business community through the Mentor Area
Chamber of Commerce’s January mee}ng.
Mentor Police & Fire
Our administrators work closely with Mentor’s 昀椀re and police
departments to develop and update school safety plans o昀琀en.
Kops and Kids
Through its Kops-and-Kids program, the Mentor Police Department
invites children from our schools to par}cipate in a variety of events
each year ranging from holiday par}es to summer baseball games!
Good Neighbors!
Our schools o昀琀en take groups of students to assisted living facili}es
or nursing homes to visit with residents and create special projects,
including holding a Valen}ne’s Day Dance and a Senior Ci}zens Prom.
Strategic Planning Commi琀琀ee
More than 100 stakeholders provided input into the district’s strategic
plan focused on the areas of safety, educa}on, resources and community partnerships upon its development. Annual updates have been
provided to the commi琀琀ee and Board of Educa}on for accountability.
