Fire Science/EMT
Students explore health and safety careers such as 昀椀re昀椀gh}ng and EMT/
paramedic. Students use medical and diagnos}c equipment to perform
detailed medical and trauma pa}ent assessments. Students have the opportunity to earn creden}als for EMT-Basic, Fire昀椀ghter I and Fire昀椀ghter II.
Marke琀椀ng & Business Administra琀椀on
Students learn business opera}ons and decision-making as well as the
e昀케cient use of company resources necessary to work toward the common
goals and objec}ves that keep a business or nonpro昀椀t organiza}on healthy
and growing. Students are prepared for success in business ownership,
marke}ng, interna}onal business, accoun}ng and management. Students
complete a 540-hour work-based learning experience to allow for a dynamic, real-world applica}on of the principles taught in the classroom.
Mentor Fire EMT Academy
In collabora}on with the Mentor Fire Department, our Mentor Fire EMT
Academy is a 1 year program where students will explore health and safety
careers such as 昀椀re昀椀gh}ng and EMT/paramedic. Students use medical and
diagnos}c equipment to perform detailed medical and trauma pa}ent
assessments and have the opportunity to earn their EMT-Basic cer}昀椀ca}on. This program was developed in partnership with the City of Mentor in
response to a growing need for 昀椀rst-responders in our community.
Music Produc琀椀on
Students explore the music industry through a combina}on of musical
theory and technique topics. Students will develop skills for marke}ng,
branding, composing, producing and promo}ng music.
Networking & IT Security
Students learn to build, evaluate, troubleshoot, and maintain computers,
networks, and electronic products and systems by using specialized skills
and equipment to ensure product quality. Students will prepare for the
CompTIA ITF+, A+, and other cer}昀椀ca}ons in computer repair technology.
Programming & So昀琀ware Development
Students explore Programming and So昀琀ware Development careers, blending academic and technical subjects that emphasize problem-solving and
cri}cal thinking. Students are instructed in computer programming logic,
visual programming, object-oriented programming, web development and
analysis and design. Successful comple}on of this program may lead to
internships, industry cer}昀椀ca}ons and college prepara}on.
Robo琀椀cs and Automa琀椀on
Students learn the produc}on processes applied across manufacturing
opera}ons. Students demonstrate a broad array of technical skills with an
emphasis given to quality prac}ces, measurement, maintenance and safety. Throughout the course, students code, compile, and debug programs
using industrial robo}c programming language. They also learn engineering standards and methods for technical documenta}on.
Studio Art & Visual Design
Students learn to produce media for adver}sing, corporate communica}ons departments, and educa}onal ins}tu}ons. Topics covered include:
interac}ve media produc}on, graphic design for produc}on, recording,
digital imaging, digital audio technology, photography. Students will have
the opportunity to earn various Adobe industry recognized creden}als.
Teaching Professions
Students, who are looking to become teachers, learn the theore}cal founda}ons of human growth and development from children to adolescents
and how to apply that informa}on, along with many other factors, into
crea}ng age-appropriate lessons in educa}onal se琀�ngs. Career planning,
professional guidelines and ethical prac}ces are emphasized as well.
Urban Agriculture
Students gain knowledge of animal and plant science as it relates to the
agriculture industry. Throughout the course, business principles and professional skills are also examined.
Welding
The welding program provides training in a variety of areas such as arc,
acetylene, heliarc, and MIG welding, straight edge cu琀�ng, pa琀琀ern cu琀�ng,
manual curing, brazing, and general shop prac}ces. The welding lab is
equipped to teach all forms of welding presently used in construc}on and
industry.
Senior Advance Manufacturing Pre-Appren琀椀ceship
Located at Lakeland Community College, students have the opportunity to
earn their Ohio Appren}ceship Council recognized Pre-Appren}ceship
cer}昀椀cate, which can be applied for up to one year of credit towards the
AWT Appren}ceship program. Students also have an opportunity to obtain
a second semester internship with one of our many local partners and
complete their internship during the school day.
