Work-based learning
Advanced Manufacturing
This program is a pre-apprenticeship designed to prepare students to learn
about the manufacturing process from the design to the finished product. Students learn CAD drawing techniques; use of measurement tools
and hand tools; CNC setup and operation; CNC programming; SURFCAM
software; 3-D solid modeling, geometry and trigonometry applications;
quality control principles; and precision turning and milling. Students have
the opportunity for internships with local companies.
Allied Health
This program provides students with basic health care skills necessary for
an entry-level position in the medical field and provides a strong foundation for students to continue their medical education at a postsecondary
institution. Students learn the basics of anatomy and physiology, medical
terminology, diseases including procedures and treatment for those diseases, body systems and structure, mental health, and medical skill practice. Students apply their knowledge and health care skills in an authentic
patient care setting through clinical rotations. Skills include CPR, STNA
training (State Tested Nursing Assistant), patient centered care, care planning, and health career awareness.
Auto Service Technology
Located at the Classic Automotive Training Center, students are trained in
engine repair and performance, automatic transmission and transaxles,
manual transmissions, drive trains, axles, brakes, electrical systems,
heating, and air conditioning. Students have the opportunity for internships and work-related experiences in the automotive industry.
CAD Engineering
Students explore careers in operations in engineering design, structural
architectural design, and manufacturing industries. Emphasis is placed on
problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Students develop skills in manual drafting, AutoCAD, 3-D SolidWorks, and product design.
Construction Management
This program is a pre-apprenticeship designed to provide technical preparation in a career field such as a construction laborer, general contractor,
mechanical, industrial or practical art of the trade and applied business
practices. The students learn site development, managing the role of the
supervisor, planning and coordination, renovation processes and hands-on
construction applications and techniques. As part of this course, students
and their instructors have finished several complete home renovations
right here in our community!
Criminal Justice
Students explore the private sector of police work such as private security,
store detectives, and other law enforcement duties. Students go through a
training program which matches private security academy training and
have the opportunity to earn industry recognized credentials including the
Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification.
Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts program offers training in food-related occupations to
students with interest and aptitude for the foodservice industry. Students
are introduced to basic cooking, equipment, safety and sanitation, pastas,
breads, food presentation, restaurant preparation, and other topics. Skills
are learned through a combination of classroom instruction and operation
of the student-run Euclid Culinary Bistro hosted at Euclid High School.
Early Childhood Education
Students gain knowledge of the growth and development of children, with
an emphasis on preschool ages - 3, 4, and 5. Students work in a supervised
in-school laboratory located at Mentor High School. Students will observe
the development of children and apply this learning while assisting in the
preschool classroom. In the second year, students choose a placement and
work 2.5 hours a day with young learners. This is a great program for both
future educators and child care providers.
Exercise Science
Students apply procedures and techniques used in athletic training and in
the care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and therapeutic exercise.
Students learn clinical and field evaluative processes, injury
prevention techniques, conditioning techniques, treatment, taping, bracing, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Students
design and implement conditioning programs, including nutritional considerations and ergogenic aids.
Most of our Career Technical Education courses are two-year programs for juniors and
seniors in high school. Students apply for these opportunities during their sophomore year.
