Do more than belong:
participate. Do more than
care: help. Do more than
believe: practice. Do more
than be fair: be kind.
Do more than forgive:
forget. Do more than
dream: work.

“Do It!” - Two simple words, yet both together have a profound
meaning. Come to think of it, a lil green dude said it back in the
80’s: “Do or do not, there is no try.” I don’t know if George Lucas
went to New York during that time to get the inspiration for that
catch phrase. Those words have a place in my heart. I believe
that now is the time, more than ever, that we can learn how to
harness these two words and make them our own. Some already do.
We hear a lot about mental health and what it takes to actually be free of many ailments
that we may carry, but all the reading, seminars, and listening to someone else cannot
bring that peace that so many feel is out of reach. Simply put, we must be doers. Fire昀椀ghters, police, military and all the action heroes out there go far and beyond the call of
duty, but when it comes to our healing, we tend to take a back seat. Or we shove it down
deep because any sign of vulnerability and we may be ridiculed as too soft. Or we try
and take it away with any other short term vice that will never produce the results we truly want. As I write these words, I need to “do it” everyday as I am not immune to falling.
Trying is not an option, brothers and sisters. We must be doers and renew
our minds every day, looking at life a little brighter and being grateful that we are still
here. While we are here, we should strive to forgive from the heart. Forgiveness is a
昀椀rst step to healing deep rooted trauma. Yeah, it’s hard. I know it is, but it gets easier while you are warriors in a garden, tending to your own words and allowing you to
昀氀ourish in the light. Finally, my awesome and amazing fam, as David Starsky would
eloquently say, “Do it!”
