line is anonymous. It is always answered by a third-party
mental health professional who understands what we see
on scenes. They understand the smells and sounds we can’t
forget, and they know sometimes we aren’t okay. But they
are there for each of us. Please save this number… you never
know which one of us may need it.
everything without warning. The single best way to increase
the odds of outliving the risks we knowingly face down each
shift in service to our communities is to watch out for one
another and genuinely give from your heart. Do your best for
one another. Treat each other as you would your own flesh
and blood. Exchange your gear to prevent personal exposure
and to protect your brothers and sisters riding alongside you
in the rig. Give a few hours once a year to get a physical. And
know when to ask for help. You are never alone on this job.
