Founded and grounded in Milwaukee, ABCD is an
international breast cancer organization that nurtures
hope and restores confidence by providing free, customized, one-to-one emotional support to empower anyone
impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis – patients, families,
and friends. Working as a complement to medical care,
all of our support services are delivered virtually over the
phone or online, making them available anywhere in the
world. Decades of research indicate that patients who take
advantage of non-clinical support like ABCD’s customized,
one-to-one support are more likely to finish treatment,
have improved survival rates, show a reduced risk of
recurrence and report experiencing less distress, healthier social relationships, and an improved quality of life.
Our signature service is creating a unique match between
a breast cancer patient or caregiver and a professionally
trained volunteer Mentor/breast cancer survivor or thriver,
who not only share a similar diagnosis and treatment plan,
but also have common interests, similar ages, personal
traits, and family dynamics. We currently have over 200
diverse Mentors located throughout the United States,
enabling us to make truly personalized connections. ABCD
also connects people with trusted reliable resources to
help answer questions about diagnosis, appearance products like wigs, survivorship care, and work and life issues.
Our confidential services can be delivered at any time of
diagnosis, during treatment, or on into survivorship.
