WHAT IS CHAGA?
Chaga, not a true "mushroom is actually a
mass of mycelium cells collectively known as a
fungal sclerotium. This fungi is found growing
predominantly on the birch tree, but does
grow on other hardwood trees. Some say it is
a parasite, killing off its host, some say it is
mutalistic, sealing off tree wounds protecting
the tree from death by bacteria; the jury is
out.
Chaga grow only in regions where the
temperature drops below zero for at least 3
months of the year. For this reason it is
mostly found in the Northern most forests of
Russia, Siberia, China, Scandinavia, USA and
Canada
