#6
FUNGI &
PLANTS HELP
EACH OTHER
MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI
The hyphae of some fungi intertwine
with the rootlets of trees and plants.
This mutualistic relationship allows
trees to provide moisture and sugars
to the fungi while the fungi provide
micronutrients to the tree.
It is shown that trees and plants with
mycorrhizal fungi are more disease,
drought and insect resistant than
those plants without these fungal
associations.
