DOHENY MANSION
The Doheny Mansion is the centerpiece of
the Doheny Campus as well as a Los Angeles
landmark. It was the creation of Sarah E.
Posey, wife of wealthy mining engineer Oliver
Posey, who sold it to Edward L. and Estelle
Doheny in 1901 for what would be about
$5 million today. When Mrs. Doheny passed
in 1958, it became a convent for CSJ sisters
teaching downtown and for the Mount’s CSJ
faculty when the campus opened in 1962.
Administrative offices were added in the early
2000 s, and the last of the CSJs moved out
in 2014.
