RESOURCES FOR SCHOOL LEADERS
Implementing the MIT Challenges
The MIT Challenges are designed to be flexible to support the range of school contexts within Nord Anglia
Education. The following guidelines, tools, and templates can be used by teachers and school leaders to
plan their implementation of the MIT Challenges.
The MIT Challenges feature three STEAM Superheroes in every school. How
will you bring the research of these MIT professors to life in YOUR SCHOOL?
Nord Anglia Education Expectations
Nord Anglia Education has laid out these expectations for each school participating in the collaboration
with MIT.
1.
2.
3.
4.
Each school will have a School Lead who will oversee the NAE-MIT collaboration, including the
implementation of each year’s three MIT Challenges;
Each school will send one teacher (two if the school is new to the collaboration) to the professional
development at MIT each year. The professional development provides information about the
upcoming year’s MIT Challenges in the form of lectures, group projects, and hands-on workshops;
Each school will implement the year’s three MIT Challenges to as many students as possible.
Additionally, schools have the option to implement the previous years’ MIT Challenges. Over time,
Nord Anglia expects schools to plan their curriculum to allow students to experience the full range of
MIT Challenges during their time at school;
Each school will showcase the student work that results from the MIT Challenges. This could be
physically in a fair or festival, or virtually in the form of a collection of videos, for example.
School Leadership
As listed above, each school will have a School Lead who will oversee the NAE-MIT collaboration,
including the implementation of each year’s three MIT Challenges. The School Lead will be the point of
contact for all matters related to the NAE-MIT Collaboration within their school.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SCHOOL LEAD INCLUDE:
• Coordinating the NAE-MIT collaboration within their school
• Leading the implementation of the year’s three MIT Challenges
• Sharing implementation plans with the Regional Lead
