ASSOCIATION OF FILIPINO-AMERICAN
ACCOUNTANTS OF NEW JERSEY
Dear Delegates and Guests,
Welcome to the Garden State! The Association of Filipino American Accountants of New Jersey
(AFAA-NJ) is proud to welcome you to the 35th Annual Professional Development Convention of the
National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants (NCPACA). This year is extra special
because this is the first in-person convention after the global pandemic. It is also an exciting time for us
as we continue to grow and adapt, motivated and responsive to the ever-changing times.
The theme for this year's convention, "Harnessing Collective Efforts, Embracing the New Normal," aptly
describes what we need to do as we respond, adapt, and thrive in the rapidly changing world. It also
depicts our Filipino Tradition of Bayanihan, working together as a community to achieve a common
goal. Despite the negativity about the societal impacts of COVID-19 - from increased levels of loneliness
to the limitations of social media – we experienced some positive and unexpected results, including
widespread outpourings of charity, togetherness, and empathy for strangers. This togetherness is what
has helped us navigate into our new normal.
The global pandemic has forced us to unlearn old habits and adopt new ones at the speed of light. We
should all be very proud of where we are today and excited about where we are going. With this, AFAA-NJ
and the Convention Committee carefully selected professional development sessions and speakers that
will help you adapt and thrive in the new normal. In addition, we have entertainment and social
activities to regain the social interactions taken away from us in the past two years.
Preparing for this year's convention posts some challenges, but with all your support, we made it
happen. Before I close, I'd like to thank each of you for attending the convention and bringing your
expertise to our gathering. You, as leaders, have the vision, the knowledge, the ability, and the experience
to help us pave our way into the future. You are NCPACA's most significant asset today and tomorrow,
and we could not accomplish what we do without your support and leadership. Throughout this
convention, I ask you to stay engaged, keep us proactive and help shape the future of NCPACA.
My respect and thanks go out to all of you. Mabuhay!
