UCT COUNCIL 2018
The UCT Council governs the university and approves the strategic
direction and policies of the institution. It is also responsible
for ensuring a financially secure environment through long-term
financial planning and the approval of annual budgets.
Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng as vicechancellor with effect from 1 July 2018
and endorsed her vision for her term of
office.
In 2018 the UCT Council was involved
with the following decisions:
NEW VICE-CHANCELLOR
After 10 years in office, ViceChancellor Dr Max Price concluded
his term of office on 30 June 2018,
having steered UCT to a number
of remarkable milestones. Council
approved the appointment of
FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
Council approved an increase in tuition
fees of 5.3% (excluding the programmes
and courses offered by the Graduate
School of Business) and an increase
