I called at q,antas Empire Airways Freight Departalent this
morning and interviewed Mr. Parker (BX.1161 - Ext. 23B).
1 was informed that the three parcels of blankets addressed
to the Agent-General, London, left Sydney by the Lancaster 'plane
at 9.30 p.m. on Saturday, 8th November. This aircraft arrived
at heathrow Airport, London, on Tuesday, 11th November, after
stops at Singapore, Karachi and Cairo.
it was, stated that it is not possible to tell from this
end whether parcels for London by air are off-loaded en route
but that it would be a most unusual procedure if parcels were
- ff a Lancaster.

When parcels arrive at London they are placed in B.O.A.C.
bond at Heathrow Airport and B.O.A.C. then makes contact with the
consignee with a view to arranging customs clearance. When this
has been completed the parcels are handed over to the consignee.
Parker arranged with the Freight Superintendent
Jude) for a cable to be sent to B.O.A.C., London, today in an
endeavour to trace these parcels. Mr. Parker will advise me
immediately a reply is received.
The Lancaster 'plane on which these parcels left is
identified as "Service No. 8q.249" and the consignment note for
the packages "C/N.49682."
