ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS 1856-1901
This list is designed to 'convey some idea of the scope and diversity of the Colonial Secretary's duties
during these years in the absence of a complete administrative history. It may not be complete. Some of
the duties he held for the entire period, others for only part of it (see also Colonial Secretary special bundle
Administrative Arrangements 1856-84, 4/826). Beside the functions specifically assigned to him, he was
responsible for all matters of internal arrangement not confided to any other minister.
