Governor Macquarie appointed D'Arcy Wentworth Superintendent of
Police in January 1811, and from that time the Superintendent, later
assisted by other Magistrates, met in the Police Office.

and Thieves.

This court was established in July 1830 for the trial of convicts in the
service of the Crown in the District of Sydney. It was intended to take
the burden of convict cases away from the Police Office, although
convict cases were still heard there after this time.

The first volume contains the minutes of the first
meeting of the Court.
