Registers of criminal depositions received
(Deposition books), 1849–1915
Registers of depositions received by the Clerk of
the Peace from Clerks of Petty Sessions (acting
as district Clerks of the Peace), regarding
criminal actions to be instituted at Country
Quarter Sessions. Depositions relate to cases of
a non-capital nature, and show, in each case,
registration number, name of defendant, place
and date of committal, nature of alleged offence,
date of receipt of deposition by the Clerk of the
Peace, date of return of deposition, and name of
officer to whom sent.
