A Guide to New South Wales State Archives relating to Responsible Government
The Council also advised that the new Colony should revert to the
form of government provided for New South Wales by the Act
9 Geo IV c.83; and that, except for minor modifications required
for the sake of distinctness, the boundaries should be the same as
those assigned to the District by the Act 5 & 6 Vic c.76 s.2.
At its meeting of 23 April the Council deliberated upon the
financial arrangement which should be adopted in the event of
separation. (The Governor's Despatch conveying the results of the
Executive Council's deliberations, No.9O of 29 April 1846, can be
found in HRA I, 25, pp.26-33.)
The dates of the meetings are 15 November 1845; 17, 22 and
23 December 1845; 14 and 22 January 1846; 3 February 1846;
25 and 30 March 1846; 1 and 23 April 1846.
