--Rehovations and Improvements.
Your instructions of 14.12.22.
I have inspected these premises and now have to report
in connection tith the school:The main large room is 21'6" x 50'0" with no
partitions, the floor has galleries on the western side, the
ceiling is lined up under the slope of the roof, the main
lighting enters from both north and south through out-of-date
typeziigys, there are also smaller frosted windows on the
easteitwallSprimarily used for ventilation.
The room as
planned and used does not comply with modern requirements.
The Class Room on the south east end is 20'x21' with
galleries to the floor, a coved .ceiling, two windows giving left
handlight from the south, and thee windows facing the teacher
giving light from he east.
This does not comply with modern
requirements.
A helio is attached showing proposed improvements.
The
main room is divided with a glazed partition to form two rooms,
the galleries are removed and the floor levelled.
The seating is rearranged to obtain south light direct
for one room whilst the larger room obtains both light under a
verandah and direct northern light above the same.
Diffused
light is also obtained through higl- lights to each room.
The
windows in all cases are altered or enlarged to greatly improve
the lithting and ventilation.
The existing porch at the south eastern end is removed
and the entfance to this room obtained on the opposite side.
This will help to prevent congestion on the eastern side of
school playgroundwitich is tarroW,
New heating stove,. blackboards etc., are also provided
for in the plans.
, The alterations proposed to the small Class Room include
the removal of galleries and levelling floor, and alterations to
windows providing larger windows on the southern side and
, utilising part of the eastern windows to form high lights, made
, to open.
The scheme outlined above has been endorsed by the
Head Master.
The sketch is now submitted and recommended for
approval.
With reference to the residence.
General renovations
are required, the floors are springy and require fixing, the
kitchen stove id defective, the bath requires replacing with a
new one and repairs to the roof are necessary.
Dampness on the
walls requires drying out.
Repairs are also necessary to the
front fence.
Estimate is attached showing the cost to effect the
remodedling of the school room and renovations to Residence,
respectively, total amounting to Z508.0.0 all of which is
, recommended for approval.
