Later on rie got over the fence, and he then said. again "Stand
or I'll shoot you".
He then levelled what I then saw to be a
revolver at me, and said to me "Stand bEi,c1c. or I'll shoot you".
I was then comin on at him.
I got over the ferice, he
continued to run down Parnell Road towards s.urwood.
I got
within about four yards of hilu, he turned, round, he was then
etanding on the edge of the gutter.
He pointed the revolver
again at me. as he aid so, he slii)ed and fell into the gutter.
he fell he threw the revolver over the ranee. I ,.ot hold.
of him and held him till Constable ..lifford came up, and we
hung on to him till Detective Robertson came and handcuffed.
Lim. As soOk. az he was handcuffed. I said to him "What made
you throw the revolver away* Re said "It was not a
revolver, it was a piece of blue metal".
Robertson said
"How could. you shoot 1th a piece of blue metal?" He replied
"I meant I would shoot it at you".
I said "You turned round,
pointed the revolver at rue, and as you did so youslipped and
fell".
l'oussed said "I have got no more to say". It was a
very wet night. Afterwaras I went and laokaa aloe the road
with Constable Clifford and along the route he had run and where
bad. got over the fence I found six sovereigns- We looked
for the revolver, but there was about 4 to 6 inches of rain
on road and in the yard. We never found the revolver that
night, but next morning we returned to where I haa seen the

quite likely he could have shot me had he wished to. I had a
revolver with me that night.
When he was leaving the platform
I sang out "Stand or I'll shoot".
