Sydney, 6th July,1914.
Senior Constable Charlton reports that he first
knew Kate Lee about 8 years ago, she vas then living in.
Steven Street, at the 1:)9k of Wexforrl Street in the area
resumed by the City Council. She afterwards moved to
Smith Street, then to Devonshire Street, to 371 Elizabeth Street, to 66 Cascade Street, Paddington, and to
332 Castlereagh Street, City, and it is stated that she

is still a tenant of Cascade Street.
Numerous complaints have been made regarding the
manner in which she conducted each house occupied in
this division which were frequented by prostitutes. -rim
-inals, and others of ill repute, men intoxicated, or
under the influence of drink would be accosted, taken
into her house and often robbed, but would decline to
take action for fear of publicity.
Through the aItinr of the Police she was rejected
from Smith, Devonshire, Elizabeth, and Castlereagh Sts,
She is a very shrewd and dangerous womer who would
resort t
any device for revenge, and ham openly admittea
to the Senior Constable that she has often got satisfaction by so doing.
When at 371 Elizabeth Street, Mary Thompson, Amy
Williams, Iris Nicholls, Bridget Lonohue. Annie Dunne,
and 011ie Parkes ( well known prostitutes ) were night];,
stopping men passing and taken g' them into the house.
When Lee was cautioned she informed the Senior Constabl!!
that Police had ro hope of 'atching her, if they came
into her house she would contrive means which would be
rather expensive to them as she could afford to spend
