Milton district teachers' ha,ve
formed a Horticultural Society, the
primary object of which is to inculcate a love of horticulture in the
children and to teach them scientific gardening methods.
With this aim in view a school
garden competiticn, including a
home garden plot, is to be held,
together with a flower show.
The organiser and hon. sec. of
the movement, Mr. A. W. Morris,
who successfully established the
lust Country Teachers' Horticultural Society, while residing in the
Young district, got into touch with
the officers of the local branch of
.he Agricultural Bureau in an attempt to make the movement a
listrict one, with interests and
potentialities reaching beyond the
school enviroment.
As a result of negotiations meeting of (relegates from the

Teachers Society, with Mr. R. A.
! Warden ic the chair, decided to
combine and hold a &wet show
twxt. November under the following
conditions:—
The School Garden Competition
will he conducted by the teachers.
the Bureau securing the services of
an officer from the Uepartment of
Auriculture, who will visit the local
schools and deliver lectures on
Horticulture, all parents being invited to attend.
The TeRehers' Sneiety will have
absolute charge of the childrens'
-ection, appoint stewards and
judges, bear all expi.nses in connection with the combined show—
advertising, printing of schedules,
IAA- ard tickets; etc. and del lye bene
fit of all proceeds.
The Agricultural Bureau will be
responsible for the adult section,
appoint their own stewards, draw
up their own schedule, and genrallv conduct their own portion of
the show.
No monetary prizos are to be
Awarded- award tickets only.
Supervision of the Flower Show
is to be conducted by a joint committee of the Bureau and the
Teachers' Society.
