ULLADULLA PUBLIC SCHOOL:
Acquisition of Additional Land.
OMNI 11111111, INNO
For some considerable time the Department has been
endeavouring to acquire a further area of land at Ulladulla to:(a) extend the Public School site, and
(b) secure a site for High School purposes.
The matter has been investigated by the Department of
Lands, which advises that it is proposed to revoke the reservation
over Reserves 77, 78 and 80, and for a further reservation to be
notified making these parcels of land available for school purposes.
The field officer in his report to the Metropolitan District
Surveyor advised that it would be a distinct advantage if the
Department acquired the freehold allotments 4/8, Section 4, Town of
Ulladulla, to permit the closure of a laneway which runs through the
land.
The Director of Education, Southern Area, investigated the
condition of the cottages on the land concerned and has stated that
of the freehold land the Department should acquire Lots 4, 5 and 6.
Lot 4 is vacant and is held by the Shoalhaven Shire Council. Lots 5
and 6 are owned byltr. E. G. Newton.
Lot 5 is occupied by an old
weatherboard residence and an untidy shed. Lot 6 is vacant.
The Principal of the school has ascertained that the
is let at the present time for the sum of Z3.10.0 per week.
Lots 7 and 8 are improved and the residences are occupied by
the respective owners. The owner of Lot 7 states that she would be
prepared to sell as long as she was not hurried and the owners of
Lot 8 state that they do not wish to leave the property but would
consider selling if the price offered was sufficient to allow them
to purchase or build a similar residence in a suitable locality in
the•area.
I
The Director of Education recommends that the Department
should endeavour to acquire all the allotments mentioned, but if the
owners of Lots 7 and 8 resist acquisition, these two properties
could be excluded.
In view of the foregoing, IT IS RECOMMENDED that
Ministerial approval be given to:the Valuer General to negotiate to the limit of his
valuation for the acquisition of Lots
Section 4,
Town of Ulladulla;
the owners of Lots 7 and 8 be informed of the Department's
desire to acquire the property for a future High School and
that the Department would not object to the continued
occupation after settlement, provided they were prepared to
pay a rental as assessed by the Real Estate Of ce.
