Mass of Christian Burial for Archbishop Emeritus Philip Wilson DD JCL - Flipbook - Page 19
As a reminder of the waters of baptism, the coffin is sprinkled with Holy
Water by Fr Philip Marshall, Vicar General. Incense is used as a sign of
respect for the body of Archbishop Wilson, a temple of the Holy Spirit,
which God will raise to glory on the Last Day. Archbishop Coleridge places
incense in the thurible and blesses it. The coffin is incensed by Monsignor
David Cappo.
Archbishop Coleridge:
Into your hands, Father of mercies,
we commend our brother Philip Edward
in the sure and certain hope
that, together with all who have died in Christ,
he will rise with him on the last day.
We give you thanks for the blessings
which you bestowed upon Philip in this life:
they are signs to us of your goodness
and of our fellowship with the saints in Christ.
Merciful Lord,
turn toward us and listen to our prayers:
open the gates of paradise to your servant
and help us who remain
to comfort one another with assurances of faith,
until we all meet in Christ
and are with you and with our brother for ever.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
All:
Amen.
Deacon:
In peace let us take our brother to his place of rest.
