in the ODU
The Union aims to connect
ODs with one another and
the school, through events,
mentoring, scholarships
and other initiatives. This
is the committee under
whom this magazine
was produced
The Patron
Raymond Ackerman (1948S)
is the Patron of the OD Union.
The founder of Pick n Pay, he has
supported the ODU, and Bishops,
in numerous ways over many years.
His sons and grandsons are ODs.

Unathi Diniso (1999W)
has a background in IT
and runs his own business,
which focuses on artificial
intelligence and augmented
and virtual reality.
Anton Taylor (2005B)
is Vice-Chairman of the
ODU, and oversees the
OD magazine. He works
as a SuperSport rugby
commentator, MC
and actor.
Nick Durrant (1991G),
co-founder of
Bluegrass Digital and, steers
the communications subcommittee and supports
the HR & and IT functions.
Jonathan Carter (1991F),
a senior economist
at Cornerstone
Economic Research,
specialises in matters
of intergovernmental
fiscal funding.
Ricci Gerstner (2004F)
is a CFA with experience
in the finance and
governance spheres.
John Macey (1979O),
a CA and registered
auditor, is director
of True North. He sits
on various committees.
He has a senior position
at tech business Wyzetalk.
Mnotho Makhoba (2013S)
is developing a mentorship
programme for previously
disadvantaged ODs.
Arthur Mngxekeza (1997F)
works in telecoms, and is
convener of the Black ODs
(BODs) sub-committee.
Michael Mynhardt (2013F),
an investment analyst and
entrepreneur, serves on the
Young ODs sub-committee.
Jasper van Heesch (1992B)
provides strategy, planning
and execution guidance.
David MacGregor (1979O),
Jonathan Shaw (1997G),
Wilbur van Niekerk (1985K)
Dedry Weich, mother
of two future ODs, is the
office Administrator and
Events Coordinator.
Jeremy Ryall (2014F),
who trained in journalism
at Stellenbosch, works
as the ODU Content
Adam Pike (1992O) is
Chairman of the ODU and
heads the HR, governance
and legal sub-committee.
He runs a legal practice
