Rice Krispy Treats
There are a million different recipes for Rice Krispy Treats out there, and we’re not
going to try to tell you that this recipe is any better or worse than any of those others.
Our goal is only to provide a foolproof way of making a gift-worthy version of this
classic treat.

12 tablespoons unsalted butter (1 1/2
sticks)
2 10-ounce bags of small marshmallows
3/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 1/2 cups Rice Krispy cereal
Food coloring
1 12-ounce bag of white candy melts
cookie sheet
parchment paper
heavy-duty spatula
large pot
rolling pin
cookie cutter
paring knife
microwave-safe bowl

method of crafting
1. Line the bottom of a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Keep on heat until the butter starts to
bubble and it turns slightly golden around the edges. Watch carefully so that it doesn’t burn.
Once the butter has just browned, remove the pan from the burner. Add the vanilla, salt,
and marshmallows.
3. Place the pot on low heat and stir with a heavy-duty spatula until the marshmallows
are completely melted. Remove the pan from the burner and add the cereal. Stir until all
ingredients are evenly incorporated.
4. With the spatula, transfer the mixture to the prepared cookie sheet. Take another piece
of parchment paper large enough to cover the cookie sheet and place it on top of the
mixture. Use a rolling pin, or your hands, to press down and spread the mixture across the
cookie sheet.
