“This is so much better than my old machine,” conceded Alma.
“And you can select the letters to write, repeat the button holes and do a full bobbin rewind,” as
Ramona blissfully gestures to the bobbin area.
“You can FLY now!” exclaimed Ramona getting up and dancing around this machine. “All those
crazy, little tasks that ATE UP your time and efficiency --- This machine will do for you!!”
“FLY!! SOAR!! Like eagles we will be!” said Alma with passion and excitement.
“Fly. Your designs were meant to SOAR! You’ll be able to make the most B-E-A-U-T-I-FU-L dresses in half the time! And look at all your new friends!” Ramona jumped up and down –
showing Alma and everyone the box of silver attachments contained in accessory box.
Fabiola, overjoyed, cut out the fabric in the pattern of the red dress. Estella carefully pinned it
together. Alma sat down with Ramona and sewed the skirt --- part of the twirly A-line dress that Elena
had wanted. It took less than an hour to put it together.
“This is an enormous gift. I don’t know what to say,” her voice cracking, gratefully
contemplating the depth of her present, the Husqvarna Viking Opal 670. “Put his on,” motioning to Elena.
Elena dashed into her room and put on the red dress she had been dream of -- modeling it for
Fabiola, Ramona, Esperanza and Estella – giving each woman a hug and her grandmother a soft embrace.
“It could actually happen,” remarked Elena.
“What my dear?” asked Alma gingerly.
“My – my spring collection.”
“Of course, it will happen,” said Fabiola with certainty.
“YAY ELENA!” shouted Ramona, Estella – but Esperanza mouthed the words.
Ring. Ring.
“OH – IT’S MOTHER FACETIMING US!!” shouts Elena joyfully.
