Welcome to Crime and Punishment—a journey into the mind of a
criminal.
St. Petersburg, Russia, 1860’s is the setting for Dostoyevsky’s Crime
and Punishment. The story originally appeared in 1866 as twelve monthly
installments in the literary journal The Russian Messenger, after which it
was published as a novel in 1867, approximately 576 pages, to the dismay
of many an undergraduate student.
