Original Ross Concepts:
• Franz removed and re-naturalized 11 acres of rough that had been added
over the decades. Several acres of native areas were revamped as well.
• He also re-grassed, expanded and restored greens to re-establish Ross’s
hole locations, And he restored “horse and blade” caliber micro contours
to add interest to putting surface stories.
• Tees were added for shorter and longer hitters to encourage players to use
the proper clubs - as Ross intended- into the green.
• Franz revamped overgrown lovegrass and broomsedge areas with Pine
Valley-style hazards like Ross used in the 1900s-1920s. These hazards were
used in foreground native areas to spice things up visually.
