WHO IS GOBY?
Join a Weekly
Beach Clean-Up
Join locals, Expats and other visitors to help keep Selong
Belanak Beach clean, healthy and happy!
Meet Goby, the "Only Fish
Who Should Be Eating
Plastic!" A globally-inspired
idea, there are many "Gobys"
around the world – all with
the same goal: to give people
a place to dispose of their
plastic rubbish by "feeding
Goby" ... and hopefully to
raise awareness of the vast
plastic pollution issue in the
meantime.
The Goby Fish located on
Selong Belanak Beach was
organized and built by the
Selong Belanak Community
Association in partnership
with Australian Aid. He has
become a landmark on the
beach and the focus of many
Instagram posts!
Please snap a shot with him
and be sure to tag it with
#gobythefish to join the
community!

DID YOU KNOW?
An estimated 8 million tons of plastic enters our oceans
every year. 70% sinks into the ocean's ecosystem, 15%
floats and 15% lands on our beaches. Here in Selong
Belanak, we fight back with efforts led by the Selong
Belanak Community Association (SBCA) who hold
weekly clean-ups, raise funds for things like "Goby the
Fish" and organize eco-educational efforts. If you'd like
to support their efforts, join the weekly clean up or
learn more at www.sbca-lombok.com.
