3.5 Caption chunks
This step is optional.
You can split the captions into chunks which will be used for some re-construction vocab. activities,
such as ‘multiple choice’ and ‘word block’ during ‘activity mode’. I find this step useful, especially if
you want students to realise how the sentences are built.
These same chunks also become clickable during ‘Learn Mode’. If you included the translationin
the previous step, you can copy and paste the translation for each chunk. Students will then be
able to click on each chunk and get the translation. You can also add little ‘chunk notes’. I
sometimes add a grammar note or a ‘dodgy English’ translation to emphasise a structure in the
target language (j’ai peur I have fear).
Click on the sentence to split it into chunks.
Click on the plus that appears at the end of the chunk to reattach two parts together.
Provided you added the
translation in the
previous step, you can
add the translation for
each chunk.
