Passport and Stamps
The Language Passport is a document
which will accompany each pupil
throughout the journey of learning
additional languages. It is designed to
complement the work of the tutor during
the delivery of the module and the resources
accessible from our website. We encourage
pupils to use it for the duration of the
module and also to record their reflections
as they build on their language awareness.
In the pack you will
find many supports
to help teachers and
pupils get the most
out of the language
sampler module and help
build awareness of the
languages used in school
and in the community.
We would also encourage pupils to keep
it for their future experience and as they
transition to secondary school. It can be a
good resource to support conversations
around languages and language learning,
in school and at home. The passport stamps
are a fun way for tutors to acknowledge
and reward progress. They can be used on
pupils’ work and pages of their Language
Passport and pupils can show their parents
as they progress through the module.
Say ‘Yes’ to Languages
Fun Fold-outs
These are full of facts, figures, vocabulary
and games relating to your school’s
language of choice. They contain
descriptions and illustrations about
important landmarks, famous dishes, and
basic vocabulary which tutors might include
in the module. They can also be used by
pupils in class or at home, to challenge
themselves and others.
Language Explorers
Dr F La Morgia
An activity-packed book to support teachers
and tutors in running the module and
to keep in the school library. Language
Explorers was developed to help primary
school pupils learn about the various
languages present in our communities.
The activities contained in this book further
complement and expand on the aims of
the sampler module, especially in the areas
of awareness raising and inclusion.
