Languages Connect Principals Information Brochure - Page 4

How do languages
benefit your students?
When students study foreign
languages, research shows overall
academic performance improves.
That’s even in unrelated subjects,
such as STEM and business. As well
as that, it opens up a world of career
choices.
Strengthening existing languages,
adding new languages, focusing on
heritage languages. There are lots
of different ways you can encourage
foreign languages in your school.
“You can engage with people,
understand how they think and
understand their culture. They
tell you things they don’t tell
somebody who doesn’t speak
their language – it’s incredible.”
Sergeant Dave McInerney,
Head of Garda Diversity Unit,
Arabic and Spanish speaker
