Cork Conference for MFL Teachers #ILoveMFL
In September, PPLI in collaboration with Junior Cycle for Teachers
(JCT) hosted #ILoveMFL, a conference for 239 MFL teachers held at
University College Cork. This was the first official collaboration
between JCT and PPLI and laid the groundwork for future
collaborations such as the ‘What’s your story’ CPD elective for
teachers and students on digital storytelling and MFL.
Fourteen different workshops and two keynote speakers delivered
‘what teachers need’ in response to curriculum development in
Ireland and the changing landscape of MFL teaching and learning.
The three themes of ‘Imagine, Inspire and Innovate’ underpinned
three pillars that centred around:
•
Approaches and methodologies
•
School projects
•
Digital literacy tools
The most popular workshops at the conference, those which booked out quickly
and were oversubscribed, were:
12
•
Using the student portfolio for student reflection
•
Embedding oral communication with digital tools, and
•
Teaching and learning strategies to support differentiation and inclusion.
