Build on the successful collaboration with JCT and PDST, by organising MFL Together, a large-scale
conference for 800 MFL teachers in Citywest Dublin on 26th September 2020.
MFL Department CPD
In April 2019, PPLI developed a suite of training
materials for newly formed MFL Departments to
support increased collaboration among what
have traditionally been subject-based
language departments. These are based
on a Needs Analysis document that
allows departments to reflect on how
their practices as a group and as
individuals might foster a greater
sense of collaboration and coherency
in their approaches whilst still
respecting individual teacher autonomy.
Each aspect highlighted in the Needs
Analysis document identified by a
department as an area for improvement is
accompanied by a resource (28 in total) that facilitates
a peer-led training session. Each of the 28 resources
falls under one of the categories indicated in the diagram below reinforcing the developmental nature of
School MFL Department creation.
PPLI facilitated face-to-face CPD using these training materials in ten schools nationally as well as via
workshops at #ILoveMFL in Cork.
