Language Challenge in Santander
The Consejería de Educación de la Embajada de España in Dublin also supported PPLI with accessing the
opportunity to do a treasure hunt in Santander setting up sponsorship and meetings. Three teams, each
consisting of a pair of Spanish language students from Ireland were sent to the Spanish city of Santander for
1 day only. Within a day they had to race around the city to complete a series of challenges in order to beat
the other teams to the finish line.
The aim of the project was to incentivise people to learn languages by showing that using the target
language, even if one is not fully proficient, enhances the experience of visiting a country.

#ThinkLanguages
#ThinkLanguages 2019 was an excellent opportunity for foreign language stakeholders to engage with the
younger generation.
For the first time representatives from the third level institutes, cultural institutes, employers and industry
bodies such as Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland all came together in one room to help promote
the benefits of foreign language skills to TY students.
Although the event was billed primarily as a TY student event it was also a worthwhile networking
opportunity for all those interested in promoting foreign language skills.
