• German and Spanish most likely to be offered at fee-paying voluntary secondary schools, however Japanese and
Russian most likely to be offered at community and comprehensive schools.

As in Junior Cycle, fee-paying voluntary secondary schools are much more likely than other schools to offer German,
Spanish and other languages. In terms of location, Italian and Japanese for the Leaving Certificate are concentrated
in Dublin schools. As is the case for Junior Cycle and Transition Year, larger schools have a better range of languages.
None of the boys’ schools offer either Japanese or Russian after Transition Year.
