The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) allows students to study a minimum of five subjects. They
are required to take a recognised course in a Modern European language, other than Irish or English. LCVP is available
in 71% of English-medium schools and 39% of Irish-medium schools. Provision is mainly French, but German and
Spanish are also offered, and Spanish in fee-paying voluntary secondary schools in particular. The average number
of students studying for LCVP in 5th year is 37 and in 6th year is 35.
